18-year-old wanted as person of interest in 2017 Fayetteville murder

Ky T. Locklear, 18, is wanted to for questioning in connection with the Sep. 25 homicide of Jaquan McBryde and the attempted murder on the same day of Paul Coleman along Knotty Elm Loop. Locklear is also wanted for questioning by the Hope Mills Police Department in connection with a shooting that occurred in Hope Mills on Jan. 27. Locklear has an outstanding order for arrest in relation to a felony probation violation out of Hoke County.

A woman was walking near the intersection of South C and Person streets on Aug. 8, 2011, when a man grabbed her, forced her behind a nearby business and raped her, police said. The Fayetteville Police Department's Cold Case Sexual Assault Unit reopened the case and had the sex assault kit tested for DNA at an FBI lab.

Soldier charged with shooting child is 'very sorry,' grandfather says

The grandfather of an Army enlistee, who made his first court appearance on Monday on charges relating to a shooting involving a child, said his grandson was remorseful about what happened. Brian Michael Cavalier, 22, of Fayetteville, a member of the 1st Brigade Combat Team with the 82nd Airborne Division, was being held at the Cumberland County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond, police said in a written statement.
