Henderson, not to be confused with Hendersonville, is located in the northern piedmont region of North Carolina. It is the birthplace of both Ben E. King (singer and co-composer of "Stand by Me") and Charlie Rose (60 Minutes correspondent, PBS talk show host). The city of Henderson was named in honor of former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Leonard Henderson. He lived nearby to the area now known as Henderson and was a friend of Lewis Reavis, an early settler.

A Henderson man died of a gunshot wound over the weekend after the Henderson Police Department responded to reports of gunshots.
