Meeting in called session, the Greeneville Board of Education gave its approval to Board Chairman Craig Ogle to negotiate a contract with Fay to be interim director while the school system conducts its search for the next director following the resignation of current Director of Schools Dr. Jeff Moorhouse. He will become the superintendent of Kingsport City Schools on Feb. 2 after submitting his resignation to Greeneville in December.

Police in Tennessee say a man faces an aggravated assault charge after he allegedly grabbed the gun of a sheriff's deputy who was serving an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant. The Kingsport Times-News reports 37-year-old Jason Arthur Lane was arrested last week at his Hawkins County home.

Man charged with murdering East Tenn. couple & unborn child Man...

Derrick Benjamin Sells, 33, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of felony murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated child neglect, Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal announced Monday. A motive is not clear at this point but investigators said Sells shot Robert and Kyanna Vaughn inside their mobile home in the 600 block of Friendship Court on Dec. 3 and stole several items.
