The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said on March 9, 26-year-old Jamal William Claybourne traveled to Agate Lake with the female, held her against her will and physically and sexually assaulted her. She reportedly suffered burns and other injuries.

Jackson County Library District approves SOHS partnership

Jackson County residents now have free access to archives inside the Southern Oregon Historical Society research library in downtown Medford, and more resources will make their way online in coming months. Thanks to a new partnership between the Jackson County Library District and the Historical Society, library cardholders no longer will have to pay the $5 usage fee to access the hundreds of thousands of indexed and cataloged historical archives at the downtown Medford research facility, according to SOHS archivist Pat Harper.

Tyler Watson, 20, alleges he encountered age discrimination when he tried to purchase a .22-caliber Ruger rifle on Feb. 24 - four days before the companies announced their new policies - at Field & Stream, an outdoors sports store in Medford, Oregon, owned by Dick's. In Oregon, state law allows residents to purchase firearms at age 18. About a week later, on Saturday, Watson went to Walmart to again try to purchase the gun.

Multi-vehicle collision caused by driver eluding police

MEDFORD, Ore.- A multi-vehicle crash near downtown Medford caused road closures for several blocks and results in criminal charges for one driver. Medford Police say 24-year-old Adrian Alex Enriquez eluded police during a routine traffic stop and his car collided with a van while running a red light at South Riverside Avenue and Fourth Street.

Police: two men arrested for trying to rob drug dealers

Investigators said they determined 33-year-old Justin Dale Weathers worked with 32-year-old Cody Chance Hanson to set up a drug transaction in Ashland with the intent of robbing the dealer. Weathers, armed with a handgun and stun gun, tried to stun the dealer when they met up.

Medford elder abuse case includes attempted murder and property fraud

Neither victim in a convoluted elder abuse case knew the other one, Medford police say, but property and court records show that the two seniors Karin Franziska Boldt allegedly tried to kill had been roped into convoluted real estate dealings with her. Boldt, 55, has been arraigned on 30 felony charges that include attempted murder for accelerating two Medford seniors' medical declines in March 2017, along with aggravated theft counts over financial and real estate dealings well into the six figures since at least 2013, according to court records.

Mariposa Townhome tenants speak out against rent increase

Medford, ORE-Demonstrators were clad with signs and chanting loudly outside of the Mariposa Townhomes apartment complex Wednesday, just one day before tenants are expected to pay what they say is a major rent increase.
