Lady Broncos back on winning track

The Blackfoot Lady Broncos took their show on the road for an important High Country Conference match up with the Pocatello Indians as the Broncos looked to maintain control of second place in conference with only four conference games remaining. Despite a slow beginning and some strong outside shooting from Pocatello, the Broncos nailed 26 of their 31 free throws on the night to topple the upset bid by the Indians 61-46 Wednesday night.

The top U.S. diplomat in Venezuela urged authorities Friday to ensure transparency in the case of a jailed American whose trial has become another sore spot in relations between the two nations. Newly appointed charge d'affaires Todd Robinson told The Associated Press he reminded Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza in a recent meeting of his "responsibility to guarantee transparency" in the case of Joshua Holt.

Smith sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole

Melonie Smith, convicted by a jury of first degree murder, was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole in the Idaho Department of Correction by Seventh Judicial District Judge Darren Simpson on Tuesday. In October, a panel of jurors found Smith guilty of first degree murder and guilty of destruction of evidence.

Police ID man fatally shot in Pocatello

Authorities have identified a man who was fatally shot by a sheriff's deputy in Pocatello. The Bannock County Sheriff's Office says 62-year-old Lawrence McClellon was armed with a gun during his encounter with law enforcement officers.
