Water main break impacts customers in broad area of northwest Cape Coral

City crews worked quickly and have repaired the 10-inch water main break, which interrupted service to homes, schools and businesses in several locations in the northwest Cape. A precautionary boil water notice will be in effect until clearance is received from the Lee County Health Department.

Homes, schools, and businesses throughout Northwest Cape Coral are experiencing interrupted service due to the 10-inch water main break, officials said. Lake Okeechobee releases to begin again Friday

The US Army Corps of Engineers announced that releases will begin once again Friday from Lake Okeechobee into the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie rivers.  Releases had been suspended over the weekend after government officials highlighted the blue-green algae spotted throughout the Caloosahatchee River and into Cape Coral canals.  The lake's stage is approaching 14.5 feet, the USACE said. The target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary over a 14-day average will be 3,000 cubic feet per second as measured at the Moore Haven Lock.  "Over the upcoming 14-day period, we will operate with discharges slightly lower than the limits in LORS ," said Colonel Jason Kirk.
