City leaders say the completion of the $200-million dollar, eight-mile Highway 100 bypass means development on that side of Cedar Rapids will speed up.

A former Linn-Mar nurse is facing an assault charge after allegedly punching a person in the face at a Starbucks drive-thru. Police say on December 3 47-year-old Angela Beik allegedly punched a 19-year-old victim at the Starbucks on 1st Avenue in Cedar Rapids.

Highway 100 extension opening to traffic on Wednesday

The second and final segment of the Highway 100 extension project will be open to traffic on Wednesday, Dec. 12, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation. The highway will be usable by drivers beginning at around 4 p.m. The final four miles of four-lane road completes a full beltway around the Cedar Rapids metro area, when combined with U.S. Highways 30 and 151 on the south and east sides.
