Cedar Rapids woman charged with OWI and child endangerment after accident

A 26-year-old woman from Cedar Rapids was arrested after an accident that happened at 8:27 p.m. on June 17. Information gathered by authorities found a 15-year-old and his dad were driving northbound on Stoney Point Road when they noticed Mariah Jo Estrada swerving while driving her Nissan Rouge in the road. They said the woman almost went into the ditch several times.

Cedar Rapids man sentenced to 17+ years after selling methamphetamine near school

A Cedar Rapids man who sold methamphetamine from his home near Wilson Middle School was sentenced to over 17 years in prison on June 12. Authorities say 26-year-old Daniel Wayne Melsha was sentenced after pleading guilty on February 22 for intending to distribute methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. A search warrant at Melsha's residence on October 5, 2017, found over 70 grams of "ice" methamphetamine and 41 guns, including revolvers, semi-automatic handguns, rifles, and shotguns.
