4 North Carolina police officers treated after car search

Greenville police told local news outlets that while the officers searched the car Monday, they became dizzy and experienced numbness and tingling in their hands. Police said the four were exposed to an unknown substance and were taken to a local hospital for treatment and released.

A Greenville woman allegedly walked into the Southern Bank & Trust on Old Highway 11 in Deep Run on Friday and presented a teller with a note demanding money. The note also said she had a gun.  According to Lenoir the County Sheriff's Office, the suspect ran from the bank on foot.

Greenville man accused of assault, stealing $200

Roosevelt Jamel Duncan, 36, of Stokes Road in Greenville was charged July 28 by the Jacksonville Police Department with common law robbery, assault inflicting serious bodily injury and felony possession of stolen goods.

Police probe two weekend homicides

Authorities said officers responded to a call of an aggravated assault call at about 3:56 a.m. Sundayon the 4300 block of Carrol Avenue, where they found Cerron Fox, 32, of Rocky Mount had been stabbed. According to a press release, Fox was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he later died from his injuries sustained during the assault.

ECSU to get $2.3M in repair funds

The UNC system has approved $2.3 million in repair and renovation funding for Elizabeth City State University - the largest allocation for that purpose received by the school in more than a decade. "This is great news for the University," said interim ECSU Chancellor Karrie Dixon.
