ICPD warns of possible use of skimmers in area

Iowa City Police are warning area residents to keep a close eye on bank accounts after receiving several reports of illegal transactions which may be related to "skimming." Police in a news release on Tuesday did not directly say there is a skimmer or skimmers in the area but said the reports indicate their use is likely.

Police charge IC man for carrying multiple machetes, long hunting knife

Police say an Iowa City man on Sunday was found carrying multiple knives, including a machete he stored "like a 'He-man' sword." Officers say someone reported suspicious activity and possible drug dealing involving Dustin Haigh, 29, of Sycamore Street, while he was at the Laundromania at the Iowa City Marketplace about 1:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the shopping center, they saw Haigh go into the McDonald's.

ICPD investigating robbery near Cole's mobile home park

According to a release from the ICPD, officers responded to the 2100 block of South Riverside Drive just before 10pm Sunday. The alleged victim reported being tackled to the ground by an unknown subject who stole an undisclosed amount of cash and property before fleeing the area.
