A teenager told investigators she pepper-sprayed an employee at a central Arkansas Walmart over "poor customer service," police said. Jenna Steele, 18, of Jacksonville was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chain's Sherwood location, 9053 Arkansas 107, according to an arrest report from the city's Police Department.

A shooting victim has told police he fatally shot a 20-year-old man after the man tried to rob him, according to information released by authorities Sunday. Little Rock police on Sunday identified the homicide victim as Danthony Hill of Jacksonville.

Files show tragedy in slain mom's life

The deaths are at least the fifth slayings in Pulaski County attributed to domestic violence and the third murder-suicide this year, police reports show. On Feb. 14, 32-year-old Jim Gilot of Missouri fatally ambushed 19-year-old Chasity Denise Cannady in her car outside the North Little Rock Maybelline cosmetics factory.

Leaders get first look at new school in Pulaski County

The skylights are blocked, the red glass-flecked floor is dulled by dust, and hard-hat-wearing workers are everywhere, but the first new school in the Jacksonville/North Pulaski School District is nearing completion for opening in August. On Tuesday, members of the district's School Board as well as Jacksonville Mayor Gary Fletcher and other community leaders walked through what is becoming a 78,000-square-foot campus of some 32-plus classrooms, a gymnasium, a cafeteria and a media center that will serve up to 650 pupils in kindergarten through fifth grades.

The Jacksonville/North Pulaski School District, a party in a long-running Pulaski County school desegregation lawsuit, is challenging its potential challengers. Two Jacksonville Police Department employees -- a former public information official and a former detective -- filed separate lawsuits against the city Friday claiming that acting department leadership violated their rights through demotions.
