Originally home to the Cherokee Native American tribe Kingsport grew out of the staging ground for the Wilderness Road the Kentucky. Peyton C. Sayler, 19, of 7540 Horton Highway, was taken into custody Tuesday by Baileyton police in connection with Tennessee Highway Patrol charges filed after a Jan. 23 car crash on Horton Highway. Sayler is charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell or deliver and driving on a suspended license.

Clerk And Master Files Second Lawsuit Naming County Mayor

A second lawsuit was filed Tuesday by Greene County Clerk and Master Kay Solomon Armstrong to compel the county to pay for court-ordered additional positions for her staff. A lawyer for Armstrong Wednesday said he remains hopeful an agreement can be reached to provide the funds for fully staffing the Clerk and Master's Office, but Morrison said all funding decisions remain in the hands of the Greene County Commission.
