Brewer Family exhibit to open at Appalachian Cultural Music Museum

When Gary Brewer & the Kentucky Ramblers perform later this month at the Pickin' Porch of the Appalachian Cultural Music Association in Kingsport, TN, they will also unveil a new exhibit for the ACMA Museum which details the six generations of Brewers who have been involved in traditional mountain music. The current band features Gary, his father, Finley, and his two sons, Wayne and Gary.

Angela Dawn Johnson, 38, of Morrison Road, Rogersville, was charged about 8 a.m. Thursday by sheriff's deputies with possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of a Schedule IV drug and public intoxication. Deputies responded to the Davy Crockett TA Travel Center at 195 Van Hill Road on a report of a suspicious car containing a woman and man who were apparently passed out.

Historic Zoning Commission Denies Two Requests

Denied were a request for a certificate of appropriateness for replacement of windows at Calvary Chapel at 401 W. Main St. and a sign for a satellite office for WJHL-TV at 108 W. Depot St. Both requests were not granted due to the proposed exterior work not meeting requirements within design guidelines for preservation of the historic appearances of structures within the district. Those representing the proposals were encouraged to resubmit requests after other options were investigated that would meet guidelines.
