A residential fire that destroyed two homes and damaged a third was sparked by used wood stain rags discarded in a container, which ignited in 95-degree heat. Two Littleton firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion after dousing the three house fires Friday in the 7900 block of Bemis Circle and Bemis Street.

Two Littleton firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion Friday after battling three house fires, two adjacent homes and a third nearby home that caught fire when embers drifted. The original two residences on fire were 7951 and 7961 S. Bemis Circle, and the third home was nearby 7979 S. Bemis St., according to Littleton Fire Rescue.

Man who died after being dragged by bus near Denver ID'd

Authorities have released the name of a man who died after he was hit by a bus and dragged about five blocks in suburban Denver. KMGH-TV reports a Regional Transportation District bus hit 31-year-old Patrick Tshudy, of Greenwood Village, in Littleton on Thursday afternoon, and investigators are trying to determine why the driver did not immediately stop.
