Longview is located in southwestern Washington at the convergence of the Cowlitz and Columbia rivers. It is home to both Lake Sacajawea and Mount Coffin, a native ancestral burial ground for the local indigenous people. It was mostly farmland and wilderness until 1918 when Robert A. Long moved his Long-Bell Lumber Company to the area. The town was incorporated in 1934.
