Ten miles northeast of Denver, Colorado, sits the town of Thornton. With 81 city parks, over 2,000 acres of open space, over eighty miles of trails, and substantial golf courses. Golf courses in the area include Thorncreek Golf Course, Heritage Todd Creek Golf Club, and Riverdale Knolls Golf Course. The area of Thornton was mostly farmland until 1953, when Sam Hoffman purchased a lot of land from Denver and began to lay out a town.
